STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

Our prayerful plan to continue our ministry, made possible with your support

2022 Stewardship & GENEROSITY Campaign

So live in Christ Jesus the Lord in the same way as you received him. Be rooted and built up in him, be established in faith,
and overflow with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7a) Be thankful people. (Colossians 3:15b)

Our stewardship & generosity campaign, "ThanksLiving," calls us to consider how God's people are called to live a life of gratitude every day in response to the God who was, and is, and is to come. Along with each week's focus on past, present and future blessings, we will also be praying about the ways we will offer these in God's ministry and service, as we strive to #LoveLikeJesus by welcoming all people with the transforming love of God while serving in community with each other and the world.

God has blessed each of us with unique talents, skills and spiritual gifts to equip us as disciples of Jesus Christ who are called to be servants in ministry. We have also been blessed with financial resources to help support the ministries of the church. As we come to this season of counting our blessings, we in the church also prayerfully make our commitments for the ways we will support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in the coming year.

We are asking three things as you consider your commitment or pledge for 2022:

1. Assess your spiritual gifts: When we give our lives to Jesus Christ, we are filled with the Holy Spirit, whose role in our lives is to provide us with guidance and power for living this life. As a result, we are given spiritual gifts that allow us to find our place in God’s community of faith. As we employ these gifts in daily living, we find fulfillment and purpose in our relationship with God and with others, which helps us discover our call. You can find more information about spiritual gifts and take an online assessment at www.polkcityumc.org/serve

2. Make a commitment to serve in ministry: Fill out the Time and Talents survey to see a list of ministry opportunities, and prayerfully complete the form to indicate the areas of ministry where your time, talents and spiritual gifts align. You may even be willing to serve on one of our church committees or ministry teams, or to fill an elected leadership role!

3. Make an 'estimate of giving' pledge: We know that the pandemic has changed our economy and has had a negative impact on many jobs, as well as the rising cost of goods and service. And yet, God still asks us to return a portion of our blessings to be used to bless others. Your contribution to the church's weekly offering Is the way our church pays its utilities & staff salaries, maintains and cares for the property, covers office and administrative supplies and fees, and - most Importantly - is able to fund the various ministries of the church. As we have experienced a decline in giving over the past two years, we have had to make difficult decisions about which ministry funds to cut. We have reached a critical point at which we can no longer sustain our current ministries at this giving level. This year, we are asking each household to fill out a pledge card indicating your anticipated giving in 2022 so that we can move forward with a 2022 ministry budget.

ESTIMATE OF GIVING

Picture
Determine the percentage of your income that you will give in the coming year and complete your Pledge Card. For some, the giving of the tithe is a goal you are growing toward each year. For others, it is the starting point, and you will give far in excess of this. If you are not yet tithing, consider taking a step toward the tithe this year. Determine your giving in proportion to your income. Then set a percentage that you can increase each year until you reach the tithing goal. The process of prayerfully asking God to guide your decision and then making a commitment with your financial gifts is an act of worship, an expression of gratitude and praise to God and an opportunity to serve God with your financial resources.
We are asking that everyone complete a Time & Talents Survey and an Estimate of Giving pledge card for 2022, even if you can only make a limited commitment at this time. You can always increase or decrease your giving if your situation changes.
