Booked! - Bible Study Group Tuesdays 4:30 to 5:30 pm
A new weekly Bible study group called Booked! is meeting every Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm in the Youth Room at the church. Cindy Hickman (recently retired UMC pastor) will be leading the study each Tuesday afternoon. We will select a book of the Bible to read as a group, and then each week we will read together, ask questions and discuss them, and learn and grow in our faith as we study God's word. This will be an informal gathering and open to all who would like to explore the Bible with others. Bring your Bible if you have one. If you don't we'll make one available to you. Please join us on Tuesday afternoons!

The Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) Food Pantry Warehouse has been in the news this week of October 24, 2022. I contacted Rebecca Whitlow, the Food Pantry Network Director. She replied "the reports have simplified the situation and have not reflected the true situation. We have always served the food insecure a 3-day supply of food and will continue to do so. We have extra, anytime food, which is available whenever a pantry is open. How they serve and what they provide is not changing. The agreement put forth by the Food Bank would have forced the network to serve a 3-day supply at all of the pantries. This could allow a person to get 45 days- worth of food in a 30- day period if they chose to go to all of the pantries, plus the anytime food too. Those who would have overloaded on the food are hurting those who abide and the system itself. DMARC still hopes there is a solution in the future between the Food Bank and DMARC, but at this time it is not." Four pantries are under the Food Bank agreement, the other eleven are not.
